Chalcopyrite is a copper iron sulfide (CuFeS 2) mineral with a brassy to golden yellow color (Fig. 1.36). Chalcopyrite contains 34.5% Cu, 30.5% Fe, and 35.0% S. The mineral is the principal source of copper metal, and one of the major source of sulfur. The mineral also contains traces of elements of gold and nickel and recovered in refinery.
2012-1-1 · 2.1. Mining of Chalcopyrite Chalcopyrite is a common mineral and is found in almost all sulfide deposit and is often disseminated through igneous rock (Haver and Wang, 1971). For lower grade deposit located near the surface, the …
2021-10-27 · However, the deposit contains a massive sulphide chalcopyrite-pyrite core which is enriched in gold (typically 1-5g/t Au), with an upper zone containing zinc and lower-grade gold (0.1-1g/t). Gold associated with pyrite (0.1-0.5g/t Au) is also noted in association with minor to no copper within the roots of the Kokkinoyia system.

Properties of Chalcopyrite. The following are the key properties of Chalcopyrite: Equant, tetrahedral-shaped crystals, may be modified by scalenohedral faces, to as large as 10cm. Sphenoidal faces {112} typically large, dull in luster, and striated k [110]; {112} faces are small and bright. Commonly massive, compact; can be botryoidal.
2019-9-11 · Gold Mine at Bissett is the hoisting equipment still in place. The surface outcrops of the deposits have, in a few cases, been stoped out; more generally, they have been covered by ... molybdenite, tennantite and chalcopyrite have been recorded. Some of the gold, at least, is present in the free form.
9.15 Gold mining on public land in 1898. Mining, especially public land mining, is sometimes a controversial environmental issue. For example, the 1872 Mining Law gives U.S. citizens and corporations the right to stake claims and mine public lands …
2007-4-20 · Tellurium mine.-One of the first areas at which vein gold-mining was attempted was the Tel- lurium mine, 2.5 miles southwest of Tabscott on both sides of a forest-fire road approximately 0.55 mile by road northwest of its intersection with State Road 605, lying in contiguous parts of Fluvanna and Goochland counties.
2019-7-9 · (1) Chalcopyrite (CuFeS2) Chalcopyrite (including Cu 34.57%) is the most common copper mineral in China''s copper mines, has good buoyancy. Chalcopyrite is not easily oxidized, and it can maintain natural floatability for a long time in neutral and weakly alkaline pulps. However, in a strongly alkaline (pH>10) slurry, since the surface is eroded by OH-, a …
A Review on Novel Techniques for Chalcopyrite Ore Processing
2016-10-26 · Rafiei et al., reported a pH value of 7.35 in gold mine tailings in Iran, whereas Mitileni et al., reported pH values of 3.25–6.28 in South Africa and Harish and David pH value of 3.48–8.12 in India. Highly acidic pH has also been observed in acid mine drainage arising from gold mining activity in other studies [25,26].
2014-4-1 · Pyrite is called "Fool''s Gold" because it resembles gold to the untrained eye. While pyrite has a brass-yellow color and metallic luster similar to gold, pyrite is brittle and will break rather than bend as gold does. Gold leaves a yellow …
The gold deportment study revealed that 32.3% of the total gold was present as a visible gold, and the remainder was sub-microscopic gold. The visible gold was native gold with an average particle size of less than 20 μm. Colloidal gold, the dominant existence of invisible gold, was found in hematite, jarosite, and iron sulfate.
Massive sulphide mineralization with visible chalcopyrite confirmed on the main Rocky Lake target; 2012 drill hole intersected top zone of a significant intersection of massive sulphide consisting of 0.3 metres (1ft) of 15.8ppb gold, 2,584ppm copper, 300ppm zinc and 15% iron

The gold mineralization is associated with a decametric syenite dike in mafic lapilli tuffs mineralized with pyrite and chalcopyrite. Hole VHD-12-57 intersected 2.68 g/t Au over 9.0 m (210-222 m) in what appears to be an ultrabasic dike or sill in mafic tuffs. It is mineralized with pyrite and traces of malachite.
Fool''s Gold can be one of three minerals. The most common mineral mistaken for gold is pyrite. Chalcopyrite may also appear gold-like, and weathered mica can mimic gold as well. Compared to actual gold, these minerals will flake, powder, …
At 600m-700m depth there is a notable transition to chalcopyrite-bornite mineralisation, similar to the deeper sections of other porphyry systems in Southeast Asia such as the giant high-grade Grasberg Indonesia (Freeport …
